Acupuncture and Fertility

Trying to conceive can quickly become overwhelming.

Between ovulation tracking, lab work, supplements, fertility treatments, and endless advice online, it's easy to feel like you're doing everything—and still not getting answers.

Acupuncture offers something different.

Rather than focusing on a single hormone or diagnosis, Traditional Chinese Medicine looks at the body as an interconnected system. Treatment is designed to support healthy circulation, menstrual cycle regulation, hormone balance, nervous system regulation, and the overall environment for conception.

I work with women trying to conceive naturally as well as those navigating IVF, IUI, egg retrieval and embryo transfer, often alongside reproductive and fertility clinics.

Voices of Healing

“Fertility treatment can be incredibly isolating and overwhelming. There are endless lab results, ultrasounds, medication changes, and conflicting information, and I often felt like I was drowning in it all.

Working with Kristi felt like having an incredibly knowledgeable best friend by my side—someone who could explain the science, interpret my labs, answer my questions, and help me make sense of everything my doctors were telling me. She celebrated every small victory with me and was just as present during the disappointments.

When I wanted to give up, she helped me find hope again without ever making me feel pressured or unrealistic. I always felt like she was genuinely invested in me as a person, not just another patient. No matter where you are in your fertility journey, having someone who is both compassionate and deeply knowledgeable makes all the difference. I truly can’t imagine going through this process without her.”

Bridging Ancient Wisdom and Modern Fertility Science

Fertility is rarely about just one thing. I approach it like detective work—looking for connections between your cycle, hormones, nervous system, inflammation, stress, and overall health. By combining the diagnostic wisdom of Chinese medicine with modern reproductive science, we can better understand what your body needs to create the conditions for conception.

One or two treatments are typically not enough to create meaningful change. When possible, I recommend beginning fertility-focused care three to six months before trying to conceive or starting fertility treatment.

Blood flow to Reproductive Organs

Improving blood flow to the uterus is critical for optimizing endometrial receptivity and ovarian physiological function.

Clinical application of acupuncture serves to reduce vascular impedance, ensuring the delivery of oxygenated blood and essential nutrients to the reproductive architecture.

This intervention promotes endometrial thickening and improves follicle responsiveness to both your natural hormones and hormonal therapy.

Hormonal Regulation

Clinical acupuncture modulates the hypothalamic-pituitary-ovarian (HPO) axis, or the body's natural signal regulating ovulation, menstrual cycles, and hormone balance.

Dysregulation of FSH, LH, estradiol, and progesterone often manifests as a lack of ovulation, insufficient follicular development, or luteal phase deficiency.

Evidence-based protocols aim to restore endocrine stability and enhance menstrual regularity through targeted neuroendocrine pathways over a 90-day course.

Egg and Sperm Quality

Providing your eggs and sperm with a healthy environment is key to a successful pregnancy.

Since it takes about 90 days for eggs to mature and 74 days for new sperm to develop, a three-month window of care is recommend.

This preparation time helps nourish your body at a cellular level, giving you the best chance for a healthy baby.

Stress and Cortisol

A body under stress releases cortisol, which can override the hormones needed for a healthy cycle and ovulation. It’s essentially your body’s way of hitting the pause button on reproduction while it tries to manage the stress response.

Acupuncture helps gently shift your nervous system from 'fight or flight' into a state of deep rest and relaxation. By lowering cortisol levels and stabilizing them over time, we help create a calm, nurturing environment in your uterus that is truly ready for a baby to settle in and grow.

Inflammation

When your body deals with lingering inflammation, it can make it harder for an embryo to settle in and find a home. It can also make conditions like PCOS or endometriosis feel more intense.

Acupuncture helps by gently calming your body's immune response and soothing that internal heat. This creates a much more peaceful environment, supporting those who are navigating thyroid health or working through IVF and embryo transfers.

Support for Every Phase of Fertility

Fertility care can look very different from one person to the next. I work with patients trying to conceive naturally, preparing for pregnancy, navigating IUI or IVF, improving egg or sperm health, preparing for retrieval or transfer, and looking for additional support after loss or an unsuccessful cycle.

I also welcome LGBTQIA+ patients, couples using donor eggs or sperm, and those pursuing alternative paths to parenthood.

Wherever you are in the process, my goal is to help you understand your body, make sense of the information coming at you, and feel genuinely supported along the way.

Fertility Treatment & IVF Support

Acupuncture can be used alongside conventional fertility treatment throughout an IUI or IVF cycle. Treatment may be timed around stimulation, egg retrieval and embryo transfer to support blood flow, help the body respond to fertility medications and manage the physical and emotional demands of treatment.

I work alongside your fertility team—not instead of it—while providing a calm place to land in the middle of a very medical process.

Is Acupuncture Good for Male Fertility?

Studies have shown that acupuncture may help to improve sperm motility, morphology, and concentration. Chinese medicine helps to balance hormones and reduce stress; both important health factors which affect male fertility. Treatment can be done alone or alongside the course of treatment recommended by your western medical doctor.
